Santorini is a destination that makes more than one dream. It was also one of my biggest dreams to go there. The cliffs bordering the Aegean Sea with white luxury hotels and their infinite swimming pool are even more impressive in real life.
Oia
Oia is the most popular town on the island. This is where you will see postcard landscapes. The stop is essential, it is also one of the best places in the world to watch the sunset. If you are not staying in Oia, you can easily get there by bus for 1.60€.
Fira
Fira is the capital of Santorini, although people value Oia very much, nothing is to be taken away from the beauty of Fira. The view of the caldera is impressive and the atmosphere is incredible. It is in Fira that you will find the most restaurants and nightclubs. Personally, I suggest you sleep close to Fira, since there are more things to do than in Oia.
Here are some perfect places to party in Fira:
- Club Highlander, is perfect to start the evening, the drinks are much cheaper than elsewhere. (2 glasses for 15€)
- Enigma, has a great atmosphere with Afrobeat and Latin music. Admission is charged but includes a drink.
- Koo Club, has a great electro atmosphere and is very popular.
The Greek Wedding Show
During my trip to Greece, I was advised to attend The Greek Wedding Show. Before I went, I had never heard of this one, but it is definitely a must to put on your itinerary. The show consists of presenting a Greek wedding in the form of a musical comedy. What makes this show so interesting is that you are part of the show. You will be invited to taste typical Greek tapas and wine from the region while dancing and smashing plates as the Greeks do at real weddings. The actors make you feel like family throughout the evening. It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful show I have seen and this evening remains etched in my head forever.
Boat Cruise
As mentioned above, the sunsets are impressive in Santorini. One of the best ways to enjoy it is to take a boat trip at the end of the day. Most Sunset tours depart around 2 p.m. There are also earlier excursions, but these end before sunset.
During your day, you will stop at many popular spots like Red Beach and Santorini Volcano Hot Springs. You'll also have a delicious Greek meal and an open bar (many tours only offer beer and wine for free).
